Kick Off this Holiday Season with a Blast!

November 26, 2020

Ah, this magical time of year again! Although 2020 has probably been the most unusual year in recent memory (no, we’re not going into detail as to why it’s been so…different), holiday season celebrations and the year of 2021 are still scheduled to arrive on time. And so is Legacy’s 6th Annual Christmas Light Parade!

Did you know that Legacy is now one of the best and brightest places to visit in Calgary this holiday season? Joined by Santa Claus, who’s coming to Legacy to celebrate this family-friendly Christmas celebration, you and your loved ones can become witness to over 1 million Christmas lights (with over 200,000 new ones added this year alone!), new figurines and twinkling Christmas trees.

Take a walk along the pond, get warm and cozy around the fire pits, enjoy a visit from Santa and visit our show homes to participate in the toy drive.

  • Take a glide on our skating rink located at 412 Legacy View SE. The rink will be ready for use in mid-December, weather dependent.
  • Tour decorated show homes! Sterling Homes will feature interior decorations and is offering free candy canes all through December. Look Master Builder and Morrison Homes will be decorated on the inside and WestCreek Homes will have lights on its exterior.
  • Make sure to check out Shane Homes Grizwold House inspired decorations – you’ll be blinded by the light!

LIGHT UP THE POND FOR A CAUSE EVENT

Every first weekend of December, Legacy comes together for a walk around the big pond to celebrate the Light Up the Pond for a Cause event. Residents whose lots back onto the pond support the community by installing festive holiday lights and decorations, playing music and even videos. These events are organized by the Legacy Community Association and are sponsored by WestCreek Developments.

While this Holiday season will be celebrated in accordance with the new public health guidelines, the community is still dedicated to coming together to support those in need. This year only, instead of one night of Light Up the Pond for a Cause, there will be an entire weekend of Light Up Legacy for a Cause!

The will run from Saturday, December 12th to Sunday, December 13th. All Legacy Community Association members will receive a holiday kit to be part of the celebration. Kits will be delivered between December 7th & 8th to allow enough time for the bags to be safely isolated for 3 days before being open.

Each celebration kit will include:

  • A 2020 ornament and 2021 community calendar (to continue the tradition we started last year)
  • A Christmas Lantern to light up on Saturday, December 12 at 5 pm
  • Instructions to participate at a Community Scavenger Hunt on Sunday, December 13
  • A Bell to ring on December 24 at 6 pm

As in the past two years, the Legacy Community Association will be collecting new toys for First Christmas in Canada, an organization that supports low-income immigrant families.

In order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, all reasonable safety precautions including safe social distancing measures will be observed.
