Estate Living in Legacy: Designed For How You Live

January 30, 2026

Estate living in Legacy isn’t just about a home, it’s about belonging to a naturally beautiful part of southeast Calgary, with expansive ridge views and a setting that feels quietly elevated. As one of the premier destinations for SE Calgary Estate homes, Legacy offers space to grow, thoughtful design that supports daily life, and a connection to the outdoors that makes everyday moments feel a little more grounded.

To bring this experience to life, we spoke with one of Legacy’s Estate home builders, Morrison Homes, and a Legacy Estate homeowner. Their insights show how design, customization, and community come together in this special part of Legacy.

From the Builder: Crafting New Estate Homes in Legacy

What makes an Estate home in Legacy different from the rest of your product lineup?
  • Estate homes in Legacy begin with a wide selection of lot sizes and lot amenities that naturally lend themselves to customization and personalization in almost any way imaginable.
Are there any design trends or features that Estate buyers in Legacy are gravitating toward right now?
  • We’re seeing plan layouts shaped by family dynamics, including large, expanded kitchens, main-floor bedrooms, and three- and four-bedroom upper floors, often with ensuites for every bedroom.
What unique architectural or interior features do buyers seem most excited about?
  • We’ve been working quite a bit with plaster details on hood fans and fireplaces, as well as barrel-arched ceilings in ensuites, which have been especially popular.
Why is Legacy a strong match for Estate-level buyers?
  • Legacy truly has it all. It’s a quiet community with over 15 kilometres of connecting pathways, incredible ridge views, and a brand-new K–9 school and high school. Plus, with shopping, banking, restaurants, gyms, and more right in Township, it’s an easy choice for buyers looking at new homes for sale in SE Calgary.
How much customization do Legacy’s Estate homeowners typically do compared to a standard build?
  • It really depends on the buyer. Morrison’s plans are meticulously designed with every homeowner in mind, but every family lives differently. Some plans require only minor adjustments, while others go more customized – and that flexibility is where Morrison truly shines.
Are you noticing any shifts in what today’s Estate buyer is prioritizing?
  • Buyers are focused on getting everything they want and need, while still ensuring strong value.
What excites you most about the future of the Estate phases in Legacy?
  • Legacy represents one of the last opportunities to secure some of the best ridge and environmental reserve views in southeast Calgary. Because we’ve been building in the community for so long, we’re also seeing past clients return to build another home here.
What advice would you give to someone considering an Estate home in Legacy?
  • Spend time walking the lots and exploring the community. Legacy’s Estate area is one of southeast Calgary’s premier neighbourhoods, and experiencing it in person makes all the difference. Finding the right lot first sets the foundation for everything that follows.

From the Homeowner: Life in Legacy’s Estate Homes

What inspired you to choose an Estate home, and why Legacy?
  • We loved the Lynwood floorplan by Morrison Homes and the opportunity to live on the ridge in Legacy, which gives us a bit of a view. We also love the location — close to the country and Okotoks, but still very connected to the city. There are so many nearby amenities, which make everyday life easy.
Did you incorporate any customizations you’re especially proud of?
  • Yes, we added another bedroom upstairs, which has been a great decision. We also extended the breakfast nook and added built-in storage under the bench. They’re practical choices, mostly for the kids, and I’m excited about how functional they are.
What do you enjoy most about living in Legacy’s Estate area?
  • The pathways, parks, and amenities. We have two young kids, and it’s so easy to get outside and do things with them. We bike for ice cream in the summer, spend lots of time at the parks, and everything feels close. And honestly, Legacy has an amazing gym – Big Sky Fitness.
How does your Estate home support your lifestyle or family needs?
  • We travel quite a bit and spend a lot of time running the kids to sports, so having a low-maintenance property is important. The convenience is hard to beat – the gym is four minutes away, groceries and coffee are nearby, and getting onto Stoney Trail to reach the airport is quick and easy.
What advice would you give to someone considering building an Estate home in Legacy?
  • It’s a great option if you’re looking for convenience and strong value. Being able to build a custom Estate home in southeast Calgary is incredible – you can choose almost everything. Coming from Vancouver, it’s something I never thought would be possible, and now it truly feels like our dream home with a dream view.
Any tips for navigating the design or build process?
  • Start gathering inspiration and must-haves early. Get clear on what your family needs, whether that’s storage, a home gym, or extra bedrooms. I started a Pinterest board well in advance, and it really helped during the design centre appointments. The designers at Morrison were incredibly helpful, and having a clear vision made the process feel intentional.
