5 neighbourhood spots to gaze at the stars

February 14, 2024

Walking your dog, out for a stroll, or simply arriving home from grabbing groceries. You might notice the beautiful sky above, and see how beautiful our stars look from here. Legacy is a brilliant place to see the stars in Calgary, and here are a few of our favourite places to gaze from.

1
From the centre of the Environmental Reserve

It’s dark, it’s quiet and the air is crisp. On a clear night, it’s all stars above.

2
In ‘The Woods’

It’s quiet here, and the natural birch forest provides a pretty backdrop while gazing at the moon.

3
Sunset Ridge
(Legacy Reach View SE + Legacy Reach Circle SE)

You can see downtown from here, in this wide open space at the lip of the park. See if you can spot Orion’s Belt.

4
Wolf Willow River Pathway

Five minutes from Legacy is the WestCreek community of Wolf Willow. Perch by the river and watch the stars with the sound of the Bow River trickling by.

5
Open Hearts sculpture by Jane Seymour

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention this spot on the Ridge. See if you can spot a shooting star from between the open hearts.
